Ruturaj Gaikwad’s uninhibited celebration of his friend Azim Kazi’s dismissal from the Maharashtra Premier League

Ruturaj Gaikwad celebrated uncontrollably as his best friend Azim Kazi stepped out of Rohan Kharat’s bowling alley during the match between Ratnagiri Jets and Puneri Bappa. It was a fun banter between two cricketers who know each other quite well and share a strong bond.

Rohan Kharat bowled a googly on the leg-stump line, and the ball turned slightly away from the left-handed Kazi, who tried to work the leg side. However, he failed to take the turn into account and the ball landed on the stumps in a flash, dismissing Azim Kazi.

When the batsman came out, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who also plays for his team in the Maharashtra Premier League, started celebrating on the batsman’s face. He did the popular hand movement dance like the popular West Indian players used to do.

Gaikwad teased Kazi by shouting in his face, and the batsman could do nothing but laugh at Gaikwad’s childish antics. The duo joked around and the users certainly enjoyed Gaikwad’s actions after Kazi’s dismissal.

Puneri Bappa ends the campaign with just three wins

Puneri Bappa could not excel as expected in this edition of the Maharashtra Premier League and finished with just three wins in ten appearances under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad. They struggled throughout and finished the campaign bottom of the points table with just six wins.

Ruturaj did well on a personal front, scoring 290 runs at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.60 in seven innings in 2024 season. He also hit two boundaries and ended the campaign as the leading run-scorer for Puneri Bappa.

Though Gaikwad did well with the bat and also kept wickets to make maximum contribution, his team could not provide as much support. It didn’t help the team as Puneri Bappa never really got going in the tournament and could only play 30% of their matches.

However, the experience of leading in the league would help him do better for Chennai Super Kings in the coming seasons. It will also be beneficial for him if he joins the Indian team.
