It’s not often that an expansion team comes in with championship credentials. If the bowling is in Wichita State, the standards do not apply.

On July 1, Wichita State will add one of the nation’s top programs to its roster of NCAA sports. Women’s bowling, long a national power and pioneer in the sport, owns 11 intercollegiate team championships. In April, the Shockers won the ITC title by defeating Jacksonville State, the 2024 NCAA champion.

Holly Harris will continue to coach the Shockers, who will compete in Conference USA, the nation’s top bowling conference. The 2024 NCAA Final Four featured Conference USA members Jacksonville State, Arkansas State, Sam Houston State and Youngstown State.

The status of Wichita State’s men’s bowling program will not change. The NCAA does not sponsor men’s bowling.
