The 2024 All-Area Baseball Team consists of players nominated by area coaches and selected by the Battle Creek Enquirer

They represent the best baseball players in the region.

The annual All-Area team is made up of players from out-of-town schools in the Enquirer’s 23-county coverage area.

Lalo Aguirre

Olive

A Dream Team selection and All-State pick a year ago, Lalo Aguirre had another standout season as a junior as a three-time all-conference pick. Aguirre helped Olivet to a 26-7 record and a league title. The infielder hit .514 with 48 RBI. As a pitcher, Aguirre was 8-3 with a 1.29 ERA and 82 strikeouts.

Luke Anderson

The Seagull Lake

Luke Anderson helped Gull Lake to a 26-12 overall record, a district title, a regional crown and a spot in the state semifinals. Anderson, a junior infielder, hit .383 with 20 RBI, 26 runs scored. On the mound, Anderson was 2-1 with a 1.57 ERA. Anderson also earned all-conference honors.

Travel Burkett

Olive

Trip Burkett was undefeated on the mound this season and was 12-0 as a pitcher with a 1.29 ERA and 58 strikeouts. Burkett, a sophomore, was also a standout shortstop, earning all-conference honors and helping Olivet to a 26-7 record and a national title.

Brock Butler

Homer

Brock Butler helped Homer to a 13-17 record as the infielder hit .435 with an on-base percentage of .562 with 33 runs scored, 26 RBI and 21 stolen bases. Butler, a sophomore, also earned all-league and all-district honors.

Maverick Downs

Colon

Maverick Downs, a senior, helped Colon to an 8-9 record when he earned all-league honors by hitting .419 with 13 RBI. On the mound, Downs was the Magi’s best pitcher, going 4-4 ​​with 61 strikeouts in 39 innings and posting a 1.78 ERA.

Landon Evans

The Seagull Lake

Landon Evans helped Gull Lake to a 26-12 overall record, a district title, a regional crown and a spot in the state semifinals. Evans, a senior infielder, hit .466 with a 1.41 OPS, good for 31 RBI, 29 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. Evans also earned all-conference honors and was invited to the annual East-West All-Star Game. He is committed to playing at Calvin University.

Lincoln Fuller

Marshall

Lincoln Fuller, a rising prospect as a sophomore, was part of a rebuilding Marshall team that went 11-17 overall. The shortstop led the Redhawks in hitting with a .341 batting average from his leadoff spot and had 20 runs with 22 stolen bases. In the field, he had a fielding percentage of .915, earning all-league honors in the Interstate 8 Conference.

Ethan Gibson

Galesburg-Augusta

A versatile player, Ethan Gibson played seven positions this season as the junior served as team captain for the 18-11 Galesburg-Augusta squad. Gibson was a two-year varsity player and all-league pick this season, hitting .429 with a team-high 28 stolen bases, along with 21 RBI. On the mound, Gibson had a team-best 6-2 record with a 3.21 ERA.

Kestin Goodman

Bronson

Kestin Goodman, a senior leader on a young Bronson team, was among the team’s best hitters with a .319 batting average and a .468 on-base percentage, highlighted by 23 hits and 14 RBI. Goodman also earned full honors in his final year in the program.

Julian Harris

The Seagull Lake

Julian Harris helped Gull Lake to a 26-12 overall record, a district title, a regional crown and a spot in the state semifinals. Harris, a senior infielder, hit .341 with a .960 OPS, good for 25 RBI, 29 runs scored and 25 stolen bases. Harris also earned all-conference honors and was invited to the annual East-West All-Star Game. He is committed to playing at Western Michigan University.

Collin Hatton

Galesburg-Augusta

Team captain and standout senior catcher Collin Hatton was key to Galesburg-Augusta’s 18-11 overall record. The four-year starter led the team with a .429 batting average with five home runs, 29 RBI and 12 stolen bases. With a strong arm, Hatton threw out six runners and earned all-round honors.

Owen Jackson

Union city

Owen Jackson had a big senior season, earning all-league honors in the Big 8. Jackson, a four-year varsity player and team captain, hit .345 with a .455 on-base percentage with 33 runs scored and 24 RBI. On the mound, he went 3-2 as the Chargers were 18-18 overall and advanced to the district title game.

Eva Keizer

The Seagull Lake

Evan Kaiser was a standout defensive outfielder and helped Gull Lake to a 26-12 overall record, a district title, a regional crown and a spot in the state semifinals. Kaiser, a senior, hit .400 with 19 RBI and 20 runs scored.

Brady Massey

Cold water

Brady Massey, one of the area’s top defensive first basemen, helped Coldwater finish second in the league at 10-4 in Interstate 8 Conference play while going 15-24 overall. Massey, a senior, earned both all-conference and all-district honors as the team captain hit .363 with 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and a .491 on-base percentage.

Alex Miller

Homer

Alex Miller helped Homer to a 13-17 record as the outfielder hit .495 with an on-base percentage of .546 with 46 runs scored, 27 RBI and 35 stolen bases. Miller, a senior, also earned all-league and all-district honors.

Cole Osterwalder

Marshall

Cole Osterwalder played in a competitive Interstate 8 Conference and was the man on the mound in all top league games for Marshall. With a 4-5 pitching record, he had an impressive 2.00 ERA with 38 strikeouts, including a .225 batting average against. The senior helped a young Marshall team go 11-17 overall.

Nick Ryan

Marshall

Nick Ryan, an honorable mention last year, makes his first Enquirer All-Area team. The first baseman led Marshall in RBI with 23 and provided some power to the lineup with four doubles and a team-high three home runs, along with a .280 batting average. A standout defensive first baseman, Ryan had a .957 fielding percentage. The senior helped a young Marshall team go 11-17 overall.

Drake Thornton

Cold water

Coldwater played a very tough schedule and was 15-24 overall, but finished second in the Interstate 8 Conference at 10-4 in league play. Brady Massey earned all-league and all-district honors for being Coldwater’s best hitter and was voted MVP. He finished with a .430 batting average with 25 RBI, 22 runs and 14 stolen bases.

Bryce Wine

Olive

A standout and all-state pick a year ago, Bryce Wine finished his Olivet career with another big season as a three-time all-conference selection. Wine helped Olivet to a 26-7 record and a league title. The infielder hit .370 with 19 stolen bases.

Ryan Zweng

Union city

Ryan Zwang had a senior campaign to remember as he was voted co-MVP in the Big 8 Conference and earned all-over accolades. He finished with a .566 batting average with 49 runs scored, 28 RBI and a .664 on-base percentage. On the mound, he went 4-4, while Union City was 18-18 overall and lost in the district title game.
