Is Serena Williams Bleaching? Tennis Icon Accused of Trying to Fit In With White People Amid Appearance Changes: Celebrities: Enstarz

Serena Williams has been sharing updates about herself on social media, but netizens feel like her appearance has changed in her latest photos.

The tennis icon is in Paris, France, for Vogue World 2024. She shared a clip on TikTok to give her followers a sneak peek of the event. In it she said: “Welcome to Vogue World.” However, she reportedly looked unrecognizable to several social media users, with some critics claiming she was trying to fit in with white people.

In the clip, Williams rocked a black outfit and blonde hair. She also showed the people who were supposedly with her, and they were visibly not black like her.

“Does Serena have black friends? Because this is sad,” someone wrote on X, formerly Twitter, along with Williams’ video and an emoji with a black man’s face.

“I honestly don’t think so, and I think she has white friends. Seems like she wants to be…in my opinion,” another person commented.

Someone else added: “All her assistants are white.”

“He’s bleaching, she’s blonde, she’s had some work done, she has a white husband…she wants to be a white woman so bad, like most women with this look,” another user wrote.

“Ohhhh okay I think she wanted to fit in with these people,” another commenter claimed, as several laughing emojis rolled across the floor.

“She started looking like this since she started dating white men,” another critic claimed.

“No way did they make that movie about how hard her life was just because she wanted to be a white lady,” one user said, referring to the 2021 biopic “King Richard” starring Will Smith.

Another also shared a screenshot from the video, claiming that the white people with Williams “don’t like her.”

Another user said they were “thinking the same thing” and even felt a “little bit of hostility.”

“She will almost never be accepted in the circles she tries to be in, or in the circle she comes from,” one person opined.

Another user agreed, writing, “You’re absolutely right.”

“She’s trying to use them as ‘local color’ without their permission. She’s bad and rude AF,” another user claimed.

Some also said Williams reminded them of the movie “White Chicks,” in which two black officers pretended to be white ladies. Another said that in two years she will be unrecognizable like Sammy Sosa, the former Chicago Cubs slugger who admitted to using a bleaching cream before going to bed to whiten his skin.

Despite the intense backlash against Williams and accusations that she wanted to be like white people because her skin would lighten, many were also quick to defend the former athlete.

“Lol don’t you understand what lighting and filters do? Her natural tone is pretty much intact. These are posts she shared on Instagram in February,” one supporter wrote.

“The European standards make black women extremely insecure. They choose to live by those standards, but let’s not bully Serena,” said another, urging the others to stop the hate.

“No, all those black people do nothing but make fun of her, and now you push her away, and this is the result. Now try not to worry about it, that’s what happens when you feel like you need to go somewhere else. I’ve always loved the Williams sisters…I hate her stylist and MUA…they really need to be fired,” another fan wrote.

‘Leave her alone. You just don’t know when enough is enough. Is she bothering you?’ opined another user.

“I just don’t care. The champ can do whatever she wants as long as she’s happy lol, stop giving her crap about who she hangs out with,” said another supporter.

While in Italy last week, Williams also shared a clip of herself posing on a porch with the Milan Cathedral, or Duomo di Milano, in the background. The post also drew heavy criticism, with many calling her out for allegedly “turning into a white lady.”
