Press release – Environmental Protection Agency


An independent panel has conditionally approved the development of approximately 43 hectares of land at Dairy Flat for the Auckland Surf Park Community.

AW Holdings 2021 Limited has applied for resource consent under the COVID-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020. The project includes the construction and operation of a surfing pool, wellness retreat, accommodation, restaurant, data center and solar farm to power development. .

The resource consent conditions are in the decision report on the page linked below.

The decision comes 128 working days after the application was submitted to the Environmental Protection Authority.

The Environmental Protection Authority is not involved in the decision-making. We provide procedural advice and administrative support to the panel chair, Judge Laurie Newhook, and the expert consent panel he appoints.
